Beautiful 100% cotton pleated wrap dress and skirt.

This handblock printed creation can be worn as a dress or as a skirt.

This piece was lovingly handmade by the women from a rural village in India as a part of our Women Empowerment Project.

The women that have made this skirt live in the place with barely any access for education or any career opportunities. They also do not experience much appreciation or acknowledgment from their families or the loved ones.

This is why every year we travel to them to share our knowledge, give them love and appreciation and support them financially.

Inspired by the Rajasthani tribal women's wear this long and elegant skirt combines the hand-block printing traditions of India with a contemporary fashion.

Thank you for appreciating this piece. Not only it will be a great addition to any bohemian wardrobe, it also supports the beautiful cause of helping and empowering women with lesser opportunities, as well as preserving and keeping their traditions alive.

About 4 meters of fabric is required to make one of these skirts. The fabric is folded in the pleats and then sewn together to create the elegant and ruffled look. Only 6 skirts were made from this particular fabric.

One Size:

Fits Women US: 2-8 sizes

Overal Length: 40 in.
Width of the pleated skirt is 46 inches
Waist: wraps around and fits 28-42 in. The skirt has a belt that you can tie either twice around the waist or once in a big ribbon on a side or at the back.

Material: 100% cotton handblock printed by the local artisans from a small village in Rajasthan, India.

Care:
We hand-make all the garments with love and care and we want them to bring you joy as long as possible! Please hand-wash this item. It's light and easy to hand-wash and to hang to dry.

glorka is a cruelty-free & sweat-shop free ethical production.

This dress is a part of the project glorka and Ammachi Labs have been working together since 2018, empowering women to become more independent, self-reliant and simply happier...

Ammachi Labs is a part of humanitarian organization 'Embracing The World' founded by Amma, Mata Amritanandamayi. Ammachi Labs have been offering training programs to local women from various rural villages around India for many years now. The work they do is just incredible.

In 2018 we partnered up with Ammachi Labs, and together we have been coming to the villages to teach women how to make clothes. After spending some time on learning and practicing we then co-create collections of beautiful bohemian dresses and kaftans. This year's collection is called 'Bohemian India'.

Ethical Production

glorka is a handmade ethical production. We work with 3 seamstresses and 2 tailors from New York, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. We are very proud to work with this small but very passionate for handcrafting team of beautiful beings.

All the pieces that are handcrafted in other countries are a part of our Women Empowerment and Teaching projects around the world.

Most of our creations are either one of the kind or a Limited Edition. We only use same fabric for up to 10-12 pieces and then move on to the next fabric. The only ongoing designs we have are our basics: pants and tops from high-quality cotton in solid white, gray and black colors.

To reduce textile waste we strive to upcycle (use discarded or vintage fabrics that would end up in a landfill otherwise), and eco-friendly natural fabrics and blends. We are trying to use recycled polyester and upcycled fabrics to reduce waste and be more gentle to our Mother Earth.

You can always inquire about each of the fabrics we use for our designs here.
