Black and Gold. Always go so well together... This piece was handmade by the incredible being. Her name is Rameella. She lost her mother when she was young, and her father and new step-mother were not really treating her well, so she moved to a neighborhood village to live in a smallest room with 2 more girls, sleep on the floor and share the space the best they could...    She never lost the positive spirit and vibe though! She’s always smiling, singing, and goofing around, she is also extremely caring, and she is a very loving being always ready to help. She loves children and children love her as well. She has the best smile and Im so honored...

Co-Creation

Learning new stitches together, laughing and sharing good moments- this is a true co-creation, sacred, beautiful, and uplifting...  I cannot express with words how grateful I am to be able to spend time with these wonderful women and share knowledge with them and create beautiful pieces together.  Even language stops being an issue when you sit down to craft. There is always a way to show, illustrate and explain with gestures, as long as desire is there- everything is possible.

India Dairies IV: The Story of One Dress...

Check out the process of making a single dress freshly from the field ;-) We started from unwrapping the beautiful sari fabric and measuring length and the neck Measuring side seams Making b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l hem stitch! Amazingly done lock-in stitch! Hand stitching the neckline (rolling stitch) and elegant dress is ready!

India Dairies: Empowering Women with Ammachi Labs

It's been a while since I've been wanting to do some good to the community.  I always thought: "someday, when I become rich and famous, I will travel to developing places and will help communities..." - Till recently. I was lucky to be at the retreat with Amma, and discover about Ammachi Labs - a humanitarian organization helping women from remote rural villages to learn basic sewing skills so they can make living and support their families. That was the beginning of my journey the India, where I am at the moment, working with the amazing crew of dedicated people to help connect glorka brand with the women from the villages.           The plan is to travel to...

Empowering Women in India. India Diaries 2019

Tune in to Glorka's India Diaries 2019:  Here I am again, going to India to continue the work we started last year together with AMMACHI Labs on supporting and empowering women from rural villages. I will be teaching them basic sewing skills and co-creating another amazing collection of Bohemian Caftans for the brand. I am SO excited to be coming back there! There is so much more to do...Thank you everyone who was supporting me last time and who is supporting this project this year!
