Gorgeous navy blue caftan handmade from a softest cotton blend fabric and a 100% cotton threaded embroidery handwoven by the indigenous women of Costa Rica.
This is a special piece to us. It is a part of the collection "Queen Arenal" - a collection of ponchos, robes and dresses we hand-stitched by the volcano Arenal in Costa Rica in a limited edition.
We only created a few pieces, and all of them are one of the kind.
We visited indigenous Boruca village in South Costa Rica and met with the local families where women are still hand-weave the textiles themselves on the traditional loom. They hand-dye each thread with the medicinal plants collected around the village. This tradition is very old and the process is very slow, and right now this tradition is dying because only a few women are left who know how to do it.
With this collection we want to support the local women and their tradition and we hope to create more pieces like this.
Each piece has been stitched at the gorgeous and peaceful place by the volcano Arenal (we were feeling the energy strongly!)
We are bringing the pieces from Arenal to the US and are happy to share them with you.
They are all one size fits all. Sides on this caftan are closed - so you can wear this dress with nothing underneath!
We hope it will serve you as a beautiful intentional attire for your gatherings, personal practice, ceremony journeys, music, dance or simple comfort of life.

Ethical Production
Ethical Production
glorka is a handmade ethical production. We work with 3 seamstresses and 2 tailors from New York, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. We are very proud to work with this small but very passionate for handcrafting team of beautiful beings.
All the pieces that are handcrafted in other countries are a part of our Women Empowerment and Teaching projects around the world.
Most of our creations are either one of the kind or a Limited Edition. We only use same fabric for up to 10-12 pieces and then move on to the next fabric. The only ongoing designs we have are our basics: pants and tops from high-quality cotton in solid white, gray and black colors.
To reduce textile waste we strive to upcycle (use discarded or vintage fabrics that would end up in a landfill otherwise), and eco-friendly natural fabrics and blends. We are trying to use recycled polyester and upcycled fabrics to reduce waste and be more gentle to our Mother Earth.
You can always inquire about each of the fabrics we use for our designs here.
